Edeyo http://www.edeyo.org

The Edeyo Team is a group of dedicated professionals from various backgrounds who all share the same passion to empower Haitian youth.

In 2005, the Bel-Air neighborhood of Haiti’s capital city Port-Au-Prince was ravaged by political violence and natural disasters.

The grim reality of life in this densely populated slum was painfully evident to Edeyo’s co-founders Unik Ernest and Michael Pradieu, when they visited the area in early 2007.

The two childhoood friends from Port-Au-Prince vowed to do something to help.  So at his birthday party that year, Unik, a premier event producer renowed worldwide, announced the formation of Edeyo, which means, “Help them” in Haitian Creole.

Project Medishare/Global Institute www.projectmedishare.org

Over the past 20 years, physicians, scientists, and students at the Miller School of Medicine have embarked upon medical mission to Haiti, the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, to provide medical assistance -- culminating in 1994 in the founding of Project Medishare for Haiti. In 2007, the Global Institute was formalized in an effort to leverage resources across the Miller School and University to contribute to health and development throughout the world, one community at a time.

Through generous support from the Green Family Health Initiative and partnership with the Earth Institute of Columbia University, the Global Institute is implementing a Millennium Village development in addition to the community health program started by Project Medishare in 2003 in the Commune of Thomonde.

The Haiti Project will be making a significant contribution to the ongoing development of the Millenium Village.
