Our Non-Profit Beneficiaries
Project Medishare/Global Institute www.projectmedishare.org
Over the past 20 years, physicians, scientists, and students at the
Miller School of Medicine have embarked upon medical mission to Haiti,
the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, to provide medical
assistance -- culminating in 1994 in the founding of Project Medishare
for Haiti. In 2007, the Global Institute was formalized in an effort
to leverage resources across the Miller School and University to contribute
to health and development throughout the world, one community at a
time.
Through generous support from the Green Family Health Initiative and
partnership with the Earth Institute of Columbia University, the Global
Institute is implementing a Millennium Village development in addition
to the community health program started by Project Medishare in 2003
in the Commune of Thomonde.
The Haiti Project will be making a significant contribution to the
ongoing development of the Millenium Village.
